For the second year in a row, a giant Coke castle was built in Sudbury, Ontario in order to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sudbury. In 2010, Greater Sudbury residents helped raise a whopping $9,400.00! In 2011, we surpassed our goal of raising $10,000.00 with a grand total of $10,500.00! Thanks to your support, we achieved our goals and more!

How it works

The Great Coke Castle Rescue had Chantal Gladu, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) locked inside a castle made of over 600 cases of Coke products. Residents of Greater Sudbury purchased cases of pop to rescue the Executive Director. See photos from the 2010 event.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sudbury currently have 79 children (56 boys and 23 girls) waiting to be matched and our numbers continue to grow. Boys in our programs tend to wait 1-2 years and sometimes up to 3 years to be matched with a caring mentor. The girls often will wait 6-12 months.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, Rapport, Issue One 2005 (PDF, 1.4 MG) I’ve been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sudbury since I became a Big Brother to Brian several years ago. Now that my “little brother” is going to college, I wanted to give back to the community in another form. My first caseworker at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Chantal Gladu, has always been an inspiring figure. Her dedication and commitment to the kids and to the organization is truly contagious. As soon as I heard about this fundraising event, I jumped at the chance to work with her and help support an organization that I truly believe in.
